EUROVISION 2023 REVIEW: Cyprus

As promised, I will be reviewing each Eurovision entry in the most inconsistent way possible. The entries will be reviewed in a random order using my personal wheel on the Wheel of Names website.

Next is Cyprus. They are sending Aussie-born Andrew Lambrou with Break a Broken Heart

Date chosen: October 17, 2022 (artist); March 2, 2023 (song)

Method: Andrew was selected internally by TV station CyBC on October 17, 2022. His song Break a Broken Heart was released on March 2, 2023 via Panik Records

What I think: These types of songs are a hit and a miss for me. I can listen to this a few times in a row but that’s about it. There is no doubt in my mind that Andrew is a stellar performer. This song, however good as it is, felt a bit flat for me. Overall, this is a nice addition to the lineup

Ranking: 5.5/10

Chance (of qualifying and/or winning): Like I said, this could go either way. A great staging will make a difference. If it does qualify, it would be top 15 at best

Although he hasn’t performed it live yet, here’s a short acapella version of the song
