EUROVISION 2023 REVIEW: Georgia

As promised, I will be reviewing each Eurovision entry in the most inconsistent way possible. The entries will be reviewed in a random order using my personal wheel on the Wheel of Names website.

Next is Georgia. They are sending Iru Khechanovi, a former Junior Eurovision winner, with Echo

Date chosen: February 2, 2023 (artist); March 16, 2023 (song)

Method: The artist selection was through “The Voice Georgia”, where 32 artists competed in the show’s 5th season over 2 months for a chance to represent Georgia in Liverpool. Echo was released on March 16, making it the final Eurovision 2023 song to be released.

What I think: I am actually blown away by this. I have watched Junior Eurovision 2011 and I wasn’t really into Candy or their song Candy Music, so I was surprised that they won the whole thing. Fast forward 11 1/2 years, and Iru is back with what I think is a turnaround for Georgia (Georgia hasn’t been in the final since 2016, so it’s about time they come back). This song is in my top 10 and I may end up ranking it up because it’s that good.

Ranking: 9/10

Chance (of qualifying and/or winning): Georgia, break that 7-year curse!

Live performances in Israel and two in Spain
