EUROVISION 2023 REVIEW: Latvia

As promised, I will be reviewing each Eurovision entry in the most inconsistent way possible. The entries will be reviewed in a random order using my personal wheel on the Wheel of Names website.

Next is Latvia. They are sending Sudden Lights with Aijā

Date chosen: February 11, 2023

Method: Through its annual Supernova competition, where 14 acts competed over two weeks for a chance to represent Latvia in Liverpool

What I think: I… don’t know what to think about this one. The melody reminds me of songs I heard growing up (i.e. Hemmorage by Fuel) and I would be ranking this higher if it came out around that time. Alas, I could never get into it, although the Latvian bit at the end was a nice touch

Ranking: 4/10

Chance (of qualifying and/or winning): Considering Latvia hasn’t been in the final since 2016 (and Supernova was created to end the previous 8-year drought)… I don’t think so really

Live performances in the Netherlands, Spain, and Israel
